French / Hausa Linguist

About the role

Leidos is seeking a French/Hausa linguist to support its Intel Sector mission, providing accurate linguistic work on translation, interpretation, transcription and summarization. The role involves handling complex linguistic tasks with cultural awareness and insight, and Leidos sponsors and upgrades security clearances for eligible candidates.

Key responsibilities

• Translate materials (digital and hard copy) between French/Hausa and English, capturing nuance, cultural and geopolitical references and using subject-matter terminology.
• Provide consecutive interpretation; simultaneous interpretation may occasionally be required.
• Transcribe audio or internet-based content and write high-quality English reports.
• Summarize key facts and extract critical information from large datasets, using reference materials.
• Obtain a TS/SCI clearance with polygraph, fully adjudicated before work begins; Leidos sponsors candidates after passing language tests.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree with 4-8 years of relevant experience, or a Master's with 2-6 years; additional experience may substitute for a degree.
• A translation and/or interpretation degree is highly desired; HLT experience is a plus.
• Must pass a Leidos-administered language proficiency test (Primary level or higher) or an equivalent.
• Preferred: experience as a deployed linguist in contingency operations, familiarity with the U.S. Intelligence Community, military or law enforcement environments, ability to brief stakeholders, and proficiency in multiple languages.
• Travel is required OCONUS and CONUS, at the customer's discretion, and the candidate must support the contract 24/7 while traveling.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and basic online research.
• Ability to obtain a TS/SCI clearance with polygraph.
• Attendance and passing of all sponsor-related training, a medical laboratory and/or physical screen, and weapons training are required.

The pay range is $73,450 - $132,775.
