Junior Accountant – Accounting Analyst

About the role

This entry‑level accounting position supports the daily financial operations of a distribution company in Metairie. The role is ideal for an early‑career professional who enjoys working with transactional data, maintaining accurate records, and contributing to a reliable month‑end close.

Key responsibilities

• Record and classify routine financial transactions, ensuring proper account coding.
• Assist with accounts payable by reviewing invoices, preparing payment support, and organizing documentation.
• Support accounts receivable by tracking payments, applying cash receipts, and following up on outstanding balances.
• Perform regular account reconciliations, investigate variances, and keep the general ledger up‑to‑date.
• Maintain accounting data in Microsoft Dynamics NAV and related finance tools.
• Prepare spreadsheets, reports, and supporting schedules in Microsoft Excel for daily tasks and period‑end reviews.
• Organize digital financial files and use Adobe Acrobat to review and compile accounting documents.
• Assist with system updates or workflow improvements as assigned by management.

Required profile

• Foundational experience or training in accounting, finance, or a related discipline.
• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance; CPA candidate a plus.
• Working knowledge of journal entries, account coding, and basic general ledger activity.
• Familiarity with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and reconciliation procedures.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks accurately.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills.

Required skills

• Microsoft Excel for data entry, tracking, and basic financial analysis.
• Microsoft Dynamics NAV (or similar ERP system).
• Adobe Acrobat for document review and management.
