Senior Accountant

About the role

Genesis Molecular AI is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join its San Diego office. Reporting to the Assistant Controller, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and managing the company’s accounting and operational processes.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain the general ledger and lead month‑, quarter‑, and year‑end close processes.
• Prepare journal entries, including accruals, depreciation, prepaid expense amortization and other close‑related entries.
• Reconcile cash, prepaid accounts, fixed assets, liabilities, equity and other balance‑sheet accounts.
• Analyze account balances, investigate variances and propose resolutions.
• Support accounts payable, review purchase invoices for proper coding and posting dates.
• Prepare use‑tax and property‑tax returns.
• Participate actively in the annual financial audit, interacting with auditors and preparing schedules.
• Assist in the preparation of annual financial statements, disclosures and tax returns.
• Provide data for the annual 401(k) audit and respond to investor information requests.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field; CPA preferred.
• 3+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a biotech environment.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and solid judgment and integrity.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate across all organizational levels.
• Proactive attitude toward identifying and solving accounting issues.
