Investment Stewardship Associate

About the role

AB's Investment Stewardship Associates are part of the Responsible Investing team, reporting to the Director of Investment Stewardship. The associate plays an integral role in corporate governance initiatives covering proxy voting, engagement and reporting, supporting the Responsible Investing and Investment teams in casting proxy votes, developing voting policies, doing governance research and engaging directly with issuers. The role also helps integrate material ESG factors into investment processes.

Key responsibilities

• Proxy voting and reporting: learn and apply the proxy voting policy, research and analyse proxy proposals, liaise with investment teams, execute proxy votes on time, compile proxy reports and statistics
• Research: contribute to the proxy voting policy by identifying emerging topics and best practices in corporate governance, and develop corporate governance content for thought leadership
• Engagement: prepare for engagements with issuer management teams, help plan and conduct them, and track outcomes
• Integration: liaise with analysts and portfolio teams on material ESG topics, help with specific engagements and research, and act as the point of contact for sector-specific ESG queries

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree and 1-3 years of work experience in responsible investing, sustainability or corporate governance
• Direct experience in proxy voting, proxy advisory or corporate governance advisory is a plus
• Significant academic achievement, intellectual curiosity and a demonstrated interest in responsible investing and financial services
• Detail-oriented, able to multitask in a fast-paced environment and to work independently and collaboratively

What we offer

• Base salary range of $90,000 to $110,000, which may vary with education, training, experience and performance
