Investment Accounting Associate II - Derivatives

About the role

MassMutual is hiring an Investment Accounting Associate II for its Derivatives Controllership team, a key representative of the Investment Controllership within the Financial Controllership of the Controllers Organization. The role reports to the Director of Derivatives Controllership and sits in a fast-paced, agile accounting environment, working across teams to deliver timely and accurate financial information.

Key responsibilities

• Work closely with Investment Management and Operations on close cycles, and prepare and review internal and external audit requests.
• Take part in key company projects such as system improvement and implementation.
• Carry out ongoing work in the monthly, quarterly and annual close cycles.
• Run processes and controls supporting derivative accounting and controllership.
• Identify and implement accounting improvements that raise business value and efficiency.
• Help solve problems to improve quality, cycle times, efficiencies and controls within the team.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree.
• 4+ years of related work experience in investment/fund accounting or financial reporting, with a track record of increasing responsibility.
• Ideal: 6+ years of experience, CPA/CMA or equivalent designation, and experience in financial services or insurance investment accounting (GAAP and statutory accounting including Schedule DB).
• Experience with investment software such as Aladdin, and experience analyzing new investments and accounting guidance.

Required skills

• 2+ years with Microsoft Excel, including complex formulas, PivotTables, data analysis and large financial datasets.
• SQL or data analytics tools such as Tableau and Alteryx is a plus.
• Experience with system conversion or subledger implementation is a plus.
