Internal Audit Consultant

About the role

UnitedHealth Group is hiring an Internal Audit Consultant in Eden Prairie, Minnesota. The role supports the management of internal audit and risk management consulting across designated specialty areas, leading financial and business process audits and special projects that assess the existence, effectiveness and efficiency of business controls, financial information and compliance with laws and regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the development and execution of internal audits, including audit planning, control procedure detail, testing and reporting in line with professional and departmental standards, including financial (Sarbanes-Oxley) and operational projects
• Prepare clear, accurate and complete workpapers meeting quality standards, project timelines and deliverable due dates
• Review the work of others, recommend improvements and ensure resources are allocated to meet deadlines
• Identify audit issues, perform root cause analysis and propose practical corrective solutions; lead project teams on complex issues
• Follow up on audit report action plans so business partners complete agreed actions
• Take part in special projects of the department and/or the company

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, technology or a related discipline
• 2+ years of relevant business experience
• Understanding of auditing concepts and principles and how to apply them
• Solid interpersonal and analytical skills, and strong oral and written communication skills

Preferred qualifications

• Audit, assurance or risk-related certification
• 3+ years of accounting or auditing experience
• Understanding of internal control concepts and their practical application
• Sarbanes-Oxley internal control experience
• Healthcare industry, public accounting, health insurance systems or complex IT/IS environment experience

What we offer

• Salary of $72,800 to $130,000 annually for full-time employment, depending on factors such as local market, education and experience
