Intern Pharmacist – Hospital Pharmacy (Fairbanks, Alaska)

About the role

We are seeking an Intern Pharmacist to join the Hospital Pharmacy team at Fairbanks Memorial Hospital. This six‑month, full‑time internship provides hands‑on experience in medication preparation, distribution and patient‑focused pharmacy services in a unique Alaskan setting.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in packaging, distribution and record‑keeping of pharmaceutical supplies.
• Prepare compounded sterile preparations, intravenous medications, total parenteral nutrition (TPN) products and chemotherapeutic agents under pharmacist supervision.
• Enter physician orders into the medication management system and process them in an unverified status.
• Support pharmacists in reviewing orders, formulating recommendations and communicating medication information to physicians and nurses.
• Maintain compliance with pharmacy regulations and ensure appropriate care for patients of all ages.

Required profile

• Successful completion of the NAPLEX and eligibility to obtain an Alaska Pharmacy License.
• Enrollment in a pharmacy program or recent graduation seeking practical experience.
• Strong attention to detail, ability to assess situations and choose appropriate actions.
• Willingness to work varied 4‑day, 10‑hour shifts including weekends.
