Interim Supervisor / Program Manager (Social Services)

About the role

We are seeking experienced social services professionals to step into interim leadership roles across North Carolina, supporting child welfare and adult & aging services.

Key responsibilities

• Provide leadership, oversight, and consultation to county social services staff.
• Support two‑level decision‑making, case consultation, and quality assurance.
• Guide staff on North Carolina law, policy, and best practices.
• Identify and address backlogs, workflow challenges, and operational barriers.
• Coach, mentor, and develop staff performance.
• Assist county leadership with program planning, implementation, and performance management.
• Help counties navigate staffing transitions and maintain service delivery.

Required profile

• Minimum 7 years supervisory or management experience in Child Protective Services or Adult & Aging Services in North Carolina.
• Strong knowledge of NC laws, policies, systems, and practice standards.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with county leadership, staff, and community partners.
• Demonstrated commitment to quality practice, accountability, flexibility, and customer service.
• Willingness to travel across NC and adapt work hours as needed.
