About the role

The Department of Speech & Hearing Sciences at West Texas A&M University seeks a non‑tenured full‑time faculty member to serve as Instructor of Speech & Hearing Sciences and Director of Clinical Education starting Spring 2027. This dual role combines classroom teaching with oversight of graduate clinical experiences, ensuring compliance with ASHA standards.

Key responsibilities

• Teach 1–2 didactic courses each long semester.
• Provide clinical supervision and instruction to first‑year graduate students.
• Coordinate and monitor graduate practicum placements locally, statewide, and nationally.
• Track student competencies, knowledge, and skills across the program.
• Develop, implement, and assess innovative clinical education initiatives such as simulations and community‑based learning.
• Collaborate with the program director, department chair, and university staff on accreditation and academic tasks.
• Establish and maintain relationships with external speech‑language pathologists for student practica.
• Plan and lead annual program and clinical orientation sessions.

Required profile

• Experience in teaching graduate‑level speech‑language pathology courses.
• Demonstrated ability to supervise and mentor clinical practicum students.
• Familiarity with ASHA accreditation standards and clinical competency tracking.
• Strong collaborative skills with faculty, staff, and community partners.
