Installation Field Service Engineer (I/II/III)

About the role

Applied Materials is seeking Installation Field Service Engineers (levels I‑III) to install, maintain, and upgrade semiconductor manufacturing equipment at customer sites across the United States. The role involves extensive travel (up to 75% of the time) and direct interaction with customers to ensure optimal equipment performance.

Key responsibilities

• Install, troubleshoot, maintain, and upgrade Applied Materials equipment on‑site.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical, mechanical, vacuum, hydraulic, plasma, and gas systems.
• Diagnose equipment issues using digital analytics and basic diagnostic tools, escalating to senior engineers when needed.
• Document service activities, provide timely updates to customers and internal teams, and share technical knowledge with less‑experienced engineers.

Required profile

• Associate’s degree (minimum) or Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field; military technical training or field service experience is a plus.
• 2‑4 years of experience supporting semiconductor or related equipment (medical devices, automotive, aerospace, energy, electronics manufacturing).
• Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain a passport for travel.
• Physical ability to work in cleanrooms, confined spaces, at heights, and lift up to 35 lb while using hand and power tools.

Required skills

• Mechanical aptitude with pneumatics, hydraulics, electronics, vacuum, and thermodynamics.
• Proficiency with hand tools and digital multimeters.
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
