About the role
The Inpatient Behavioral Health Counselor provides psychiatric treatment that integrates mind, body, and social needs to restore patients to emotional and mental health within Lehigh Valley Health Network.
Key responsibilities
- Identify and report potential problem areas in the therapeutic environment to the Program Director.
- Assess patients appropriate to their age group and assist social work staff with assessments, crisis plans, and discharge planning.
- Manage emergency situations such as codes and unexpected incidents.
- Provide individual, group, and family counseling.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Sociology, or a related field.
- At least one year of clinical experience and completion of a college practicum in a clinical area.
- Knowledge of mental health counseling techniques, treatment modalities, procedures, and practices.
- Ability to lift and carry 40‑50 lb and stand or walk for extended periods.
