Perinatal Sonographer II – Per Diem

About the role

The Perinatal Sonographer II provides high‑risk obstetric ultrasound examinations and procedures on a per‑diem basis for Lehigh Valley Health Network in Pottsville. The role involves performing detailed fetal assessments, guiding invasive procedures, and documenting findings for physician interpretation.

Key responsibilities

• Perform high‑risk obstetric ultrasound exams using AIUM protocols, including first‑trimester, detailed anatomy, and 3D/4D studies.
• Guide chorionic villus sampling and amniocentesis procedures, providing real‑time imaging support.
• Maintain accurate electronic patient records, ultrasound documentation, and image storage systems.
• Identify normal versus pathologic findings, select appropriate transducers, and troubleshoot equipment issues.

Required profile

• High School Diploma/GED plus Technical School Diploma in Ultrasonography or Associate’s Degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography.
• Current BLS certification (within 90 days of hire) and RDMS‑OB/GYN credential.
• Ability to work independently, maintain regulatory compliance, and recommend workflow improvements.

Required skills

• Proficiency with obstetric ultrasound equipment and advanced imaging techniques (3D/4D).
• Experience performing detailed fetal anatomy surveys and guiding invasive procedures.
• Knowledge of EMR and ultrasound reporting systems.
