Information Systems Analyst II

About the role

The Illinois State Police Division of Justice Services seeks a detail‑oriented Information Systems Analyst II to support statewide information security and compliance initiatives. Reporting to the ISP Information Security Officer, the analyst will act as an IT Security Auditor, coordinating responses to FBI ITS audits and ensuring protection of criminal justice data.

Key responsibilities

• Gather, analyze, and document technical information for FBI Information Technology Security (ITS) audits.
• Research compliance issues and prepare clear documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
• Review and assess IT system implementations that process confidential Criminal Justice Information (CJI) for compliance with state and federal security standards.
• Perform programming, database queries, and maintenance or enhancement of desktop applications supporting operational needs.
• Provide Help Desk support for nexTEST, CJIS Audit, CJIS Online, and related CJIS systems.

Required profile

• Detail‑oriented with strong analytical and documentation skills.
• Experience supporting IT security audits and compliance initiatives.
• Ability to work collaboratively with ISP staff and partner agencies.

Required skills

• Programming (application development and scripting).
• Database query development and execution.
• Desktop application maintenance and enhancement.
• IT security auditing, including FBI ITS audit processes.
• Familiarity with CJIS systems and related security requirements.
• Help Desk troubleshooting for security‑related applications.
