Information Security Risk Specialist

About the role

The Information Security Risk Specialist will partner with Department of War leaders to identify cyber risks, interpret relevant policies, and develop actionable mitigation plans. You will translate complex threat information into clear guidance, enabling senior decision‑makers to protect critical networks.

Key responsibilities

• Assess the full threat landscape by reviewing technical and personnel data from subject‑matter experts.
• Develop and present risk mitigation plans, whitepapers, and milestone road‑maps.
• Guide senior leaders (CISO, CIO, CTO) in cybersecurity capability maturation.
• Collaborate with project and proposal teams to embed security solutions into implementation plans.
• Author technical documentation and thought‑leadership content on emerging cybersecurity topics.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience in IT operations, cybersecurity, or related compliance/engineering roles.
• Proven ability to support audits, inspections, and compliance initiatives.
• Experience communicating with senior executives and influencing security decisions.
• Possession of a TS/SCI clearance.
• Relevant security certifications (e.g., CEH, CISM, CCSP, CISSP, CompTIA Security+).

Required skills

• Knowledge of NIST SP 800‑53 and DoD security frameworks (8500/8510).
• Experience with cloud platforms: AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform.
• Familiarity with eMASS and Mission Partner Engagement tools.
• Understanding of AI, machine learning, Next‑Generation Firewalls, and Big Data security solutions.
• Ability to select, design, and implement security tools for large, complex organizations.
