Part-Time Campus Dispatcher

About the role

The University of Tulsa is seeking a part‑time Dispatcher to support campus safety operations. The role involves handling emergency and non‑emergency communications, coordinating security personnel, and maintaining accurate records.

Key responsibilities

• Receives and responds to emergency and non‑emergency calls from the public, university offices, security officers and other agencies via telephone, radio and computer systems.
• Prioritizes information, dispatches patrol officers or other emergency services, and monitors the status and location of on‑duty security personnel.
• Operates and monitors communication technology such as radios, fire and intrusion alarms, surveillance cameras, emergency broadcast and text‑messaging systems.
• Maintains accurate logs of public‑safety communications and enters sensitive information into university databases as required.
• Provides campus information to the public and advises incoming dispatchers of service calls and environmental conditions.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED and a valid OK State driver’s license.
• Previous radio communication experience in a law‑enforcement or emergency‑services setting.
• Ability to think clearly, act quickly in emergencies and maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and dependable attendance.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams.
• Competence in operating two‑way radio and telephone communication equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret campus maps to determine locations and jurisdictional boundaries.
