Armed Security Officer – Part‑Time

About the role

The University of Tulsa seeks part‑time Armed Security Officers to protect students, faculty, staff and visitors across campus facilities, including the Gilcrease Museum. Officers will patrol, respond to incidents, and enforce safety regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Patrol assigned areas, monitor CCTV and alarm systems, and report unusual situations to supervisors.
• Investigate incidents, document findings, and issue university citations for safety, parking and traffic violations.
• Provide first aid, assist stranded motorists, and support crowd or traffic control during events.
• Secure museum galleries, verify inventories, and assist with opening and closing procedures.

Required profile

• Minimum 21 years of age with a high school diploma or GED.
• Valid Oklahoma driver’s license and ability to meet firearms and physical‑fitness qualifications.
• Successful completion of pre‑employment medical, vision and drug screenings.
• Eligibility for CLEET armed certification within six months of hire.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams.
• Strong written and verbal communication, and ability to de‑escalate dangerous situations.
