Armed Security Officer – Lead

About the role

Perform all duties and responsibilities of an Armed Security Officer while providing leadership and administrative oversight when the shift Lieutenant is absent. The Lead Officer supervises personnel, ensures compliance with university policies, and manages incident response across multiple campus locations.

Key responsibilities

• Perform all duties of an Armed Security Officer, including patrol, incident response, and enforcement of university policies.
• Supervise assigned personnel, issue work orders, and review daily reports such as Incident Reports and Daily Activity Reports.
• Assume charge of incidents in the absence of a superior officer and develop security/traffic control plans for special events.
• Oversee department projects such as vehicle maintenance and equipment inventory, and ensure compliance with firearms and physical fitness standards.

Required profile

• Current employment in good standing with the University of Tulsa Security Department and certification under the Oklahoma Security Guard and Private Investigator Act (CLEET Phases 1‑4).
• Minimum two years of experience in a law‑enforcement or security‑management role responsible for patrol officer duties or direct reports (preferred).
• Physical stamina to perform foot, bicycle, and vehicle patrols, stand for extended periods, and meet fitness and firearms qualification standards.
• Ability to work rotating shifts, including holidays, weekends, and on‑call duties for emergencies or special events across multiple campus locations.
