Armed Security Officer – Campus Safety

About the role

The University of Tulsa is looking for a qualified Armed Security Officer to patrol campus facilities, protect university property, and respond to emergencies. This position involves both routine patrol duties and the ability to act decisively in high‑stress situations.

Key responsibilities

• Patrol assigned campus areas, monitor CCTV and alarm systems, and report unusual situations to supervisors.
• Investigate incidents, complete detailed reports, and testify in conduct hearings or court proceedings.
• Enforce university safety, parking, and traffic regulations, issuing citations as needed.
• Provide first aid, assist injured persons, and support emergency transportation.
• Control crowds and traffic during events, and assist stranded motorists with basic vehicle support.
• Secure museum galleries, verify inventories, and assist with opening and closing procedures.

Required profile

• Minimum age of 21 with a high school diploma or GED.
• Valid Oklahoma driver’s license and ability to meet firearms and physical‑fitness qualifications.
• Successful completion of pre‑employment medical, vision, and drug screenings.
• Eligibility for CLEET Phase 1‑4 certification within six months of hire.
• Prior experience in physical security, loss prevention, military service, or close protection is preferred.
