Industrial Engineer

About the role

Michelin's Peosta, Iowa site, which makes off-road rubber track systems for agriculture and employs over 200 people, is hiring an Industrial Engineer. The engineer leads continuous improvement in productivity and innovation across the site, from individual work posts to cross-process areas. Entry-level training is provided through formal classes and on-the-job mentoring.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and improve manufacturing processes, tools, equipment and work activities to meet safety, quality, delivery and cost objectives, leading improvement projects and Kaizen/Lean events.
• Analyze and challenge existing procedures, recommend changes and work with operational management to integrate solutions.
• Help teams become more autonomous by building skills in organizational change, project management and employee engagement.
• Build digital tools and dashboards using OSiSoft Pi, MicroStrategy and Power BI.
• Support capital projects by analyzing layout, flow, machine cycle and staffing for new equipment and processes.
• Lead and support innovation initiatives such as AGVs, robotics and automation.
• Additional duties include workforce and productivity planning, machine capacity and process effectiveness analysis, project management, expansion and material flow analysis, engineered time standards, value stream mapping and line balancing.

Required profile

• 1 to 3 years of industrial, manufacturing, maintenance, engineering, project or related technical experience; entry-level candidates may count internships, co-ops, apprenticeships or military service.
• BS in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent technical major preferred.
• Demonstrated experience leading a team or project group, including goal setting, delegation, feedback and coaching.
• Military service (Junior Military Officer or Senior Non-Commissioned Officer) is a plus.

Required skills

• Microsoft Office Excel data analysis proficiency.
• Power BI is a plus.
• Ability to influence and negotiate verbally and in writing, and to set and achieve goals with minimal supervision.
