Industrial Engineer – Effectors

About the role

An advanced aerospace and defense technology company is seeking an Industrial Engineer to architect and scale next‑generation production systems for high‑volume autonomous and interceptor platforms. This hands‑on role will shape manufacturing strategy from prototype builds through sustained high‑rate production.

Key responsibilities

• Design scalable factory layouts, production cells, and workstation configurations optimized for flow, takt time and operational efficiency.
• Build value‑stream maps, future‑state workflows, and inventory flow concepts such as kitting and point‑of‑use systems.
• Develop detailed production rate and throughput models tied to demand forecasts; analyze bottlenecks, labor efficiency and capacity constraints.
• Implement lean manufacturing principles, line balancing, waste reduction and OEE tracking to improve yield and reduce rework.
• Partner with manufacturing engineering, supply chain, quality and operations teams on design‑for‑produci­bility reviews, make‑versus‑buy decisions and supplier industrialization.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Manufacturing, Systems Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years experience in factory design, production system optimization or high‑rate manufacturing scale‑up.
• U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain a DoD security clearance.

Required skills

• Lean manufacturing, capacity planning, value‑stream mapping, takt time and cycle‑time analysis.
• OEE measurement, line balancing, throughput optimization.
• Production rate modeling using Excel, Python, VBA or simulation tools (FlexSim, AnyLogic, Arena, Simulink).
• Experience with ERP, MES or PLM integration.
