Industrial Electrician - 2nd Shift

About the role

Tyler Union in Anniston, Alabama, is hiring Industrial Electricians for its maintenance team. You will perform electrical and electronic maintenance and repair on plant equipment in line with established codes, specifications and safety practices, working under clear guidelines with a strong emphasis on safety. The position is on the 2nd shift.

Key responsibilities

• Follow the Tyler Union Safety Management Program and advise management of any deviations from it
• Interpret schematics and blueprints to install and maintain electrical systems correctly
• Plan and install wiring, equipment and fixtures according to job specifications and local codes
• Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers and other components, and perform bench repair work
• Install and test electrical systems and circuits using instruments such as ohmmeters, voltmeters and oscilloscopes
• Diagnose faults and repair equipment, working from ladders, scaffolds or roofs where needed
• Document work to meet current ISO standards and keep the electrician's license up to date

Required profile

• Associate degree in Industrial Electrical Maintenance, or two years of related industrial electrical experience (heavy industrial experience preferred)
• Experience reading electrical schematics
• Verbal testing of AC/DC theory, schematics, blueprint reading, simple circuits and motor controls (motor starts, overload protection, ladder diagrams)
• Basic computer skills and ability to pass a hands-on test
• Ability to lift 50 pounds and climb, balance and stand for long periods

Required skills

• Knowledge of machines, tools and design principles for technical plans and blueprints
• Troubleshooting, repairing and equipment maintenance
• Use of power tools, measuring devices and test equipment
