Industrial Assessor (Qualified Electrical Worker)

About the role

The Industrial Maintenance & Operations Specialist – QEW is responsible for performing qualified electrical worker activities, electrical safety assessments, arc‑flash data collection, and technical evaluations of industrial electrical systems at client facilities.

Key responsibilities

• Perform Qualified Electrical Worker (QEW) activities and field assessments in line with OSHA, NFPA 70E and site‑specific safety requirements.
• Conduct arc‑flash data collection, equipment surveys and verify nameplates, voltage, amperage, protective devices and other system data.
• Evaluate electrical equipment and systems for condition, safety, maintenance needs and compliance.
• Document deficiencies, hazards and maintenance concerns observed during assessments.
• Support broader industrial maintenance, material handling, mechanical, controls and plumbing assessments when required.
• Travel to client facilities (50‑75% of time) to perform on‑site data collection and reporting.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED required; technical degree or vocational training in electrical, mechanical or industrial maintenance preferred.
• Valid driver’s license with clean driving record.
• Ability to work safely around energized equipment, follow LOTO procedures and use appropriate PPE.
• Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking and independent judgment in field evaluations.

Required skills

• Knowledge of NFPA 70E, OSHA electrical safety standards and Qualified Electrical Worker practices.
• Experience with arc‑flash data collection and electrical equipment surveys.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, one‑line diagrams and equipment schedules.
• Proficiency with computers, tablets and electronic data‑collection tools; Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Familiarity with CMMS platforms, BAS systems and cloud‑based reporting tools is preferred.
