Field Operations General Manager – Marine HVAC

About the role

Johnson Controls seeks an experienced Field Operations General Manager to lead marine HVAC field service teams in Norfolk, VA and across other key locations. The role oversees profit & loss, sales generation, and client relationships for Navy‑installed HVAC&R equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Own P&L, growth strategy and operational performance for the field services team.
• Lead sales executives, develop processes to qualify and close new opportunities.
• Coordinate field service schedules, ensuring optimal coverage across Norfolk, San Diego and Seattle.
• Mentor and develop HVAC field technicians and managers, conducting performance evaluations.
• Oversee installation, maintenance and repair of marine HVAC systems, ensuring compliance with standards.
• Develop and implement procedures to improve efficiency and service quality.
• Manage service contracts, monitor commitments and resolve customer issues promptly.
• Ensure health and safety compliance, conduct training and audits.
• Provide technical guidance, stay current on marine HVAC technologies, and support budgeting and pricing for customers.

Required profile

• 5+ years progressive field service experience with strong leadership and team‑management skills.
• Proven operations‑management background and ability to influence senior decision‑makers.
• Experience with U.S. Federal Government budgeting and contracting processes.
• Ability to obtain and maintain required government security clearances.
• Willingness to travel up to 25% regionally and periodically to the West Coast.

Required skills

• Marine HVAC systems knowledge.
• Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project) and Outlook.

What we offer

• Salary range $150,000 – $180,000 per year plus incentive compensation.
