Import/Export Compliance Supervisor

About the role

The Logistics Import/Export Compliance Supervisor oversees import and export processes so they comply with all relevant regulations, laws and company policies. The role leads a team in managing documentation, coordinating with customs brokers and keeping accurate records. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of trade regulations and good analytical and leadership skills.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure all import and export activities comply with laws, regulations and company policies, and stay up to date with changes in trade regulations
• Maintain accurate records of import and export transactions, such as commercial invoices, bills of lading and certificates of origin, and ensure proper documentation for customs clearance
• Coordinate with customs brokers to facilitate customs clearance and resolve issues or delays
• Supervise a team of compliance coordinators, guide them on compliance procedures and lead trainings on the import/export process and required documentation
• Identify and mitigate compliance risks and prepare for and respond to audits from regulatory agencies

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, International Business or a related field
• 5 to 7+ years in import compliance, customs brokerage or global trade operations
• Experience leading audits, licensing and carrier/forwarder programs preferred
• Certification in customs brokerage (e.g. CCS) preferred; CES or CIEP a plus
