Hybrid Part‑Time ESOL Teacher (Evening Classes)

About the role

The YMCA of Greater Boston’s International Learning Center seeks a part‑time Hybrid ESOL Teacher to deliver evening classes for beginners and low‑intermediate adult learners. Classes run 6:30‑9:00 pm, Monday‑Wednesday, from September to June 2026.

Key responsibilities

• Teach ESOL to adults from diverse linguistic, cultural, and socio‑economic backgrounds.
• Deliver engaging lessons that integrate academic and employment skills using the YMCA ILC curriculum.
• Maintain a safe, inclusive classroom environment and present clear objectives for each session.
• Collaborate with Career Advisors to support students’ personal, educational, and career goals.
• Conduct formative and summative assessments and provide progress reports twice a year.
• Utilize Google Classroom, Microsoft Office Suite, and Zoom to promote digital literacy.
• Keep accurate attendance records, document weekly lesson plans, and attend bi‑weekly staff meetings.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree required; education background preferred.
• TESOL, TEFL, TESL, or CELTA certification accepted.
• Eligible to live and work in the United States.
• Sensitivity to socio‑economic and ethnic minority issues.
• Effective communication and classroom‑management abilities.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

What we offer

• Hourly pay of $27.58 – $28.41.
• 15 paid teacher hours per week (7.5‑9 h teaching, 6 h planning).
