Human Resources Generalist

About the role

Wag Hotels is a fast‑growing leader in pet hospitality, operating hotels across multiple states. The Human Resources Generalist serves as the operational backbone of the HR function, translating compliance requirements and people priorities into consistent execution across locations.

Key responsibilities

• Address employee concerns, provide guidance on HR issues, and mediate conflicts to maintain a positive work environment.
• Conduct workplace investigations, ensuring proper documentation and compliance.
• Partner with hiring managers to support the full recruitment cycle, from staffing needs analysis to candidate onboarding.
• Administer benefit programs, process enrollments and terminations, and perform monthly reconciliation audits.
• Support performance management processes, including 90‑day and annual reviews, and assist managers with improvement plans.
• Stay current on federal and state employment laws, ensure policy alignment, and complete required annual reporting (ACA, EEOC, state filings).
• Collaborate with accounting to update minimum‑wage changes and provide budgeting impact reports.
• Process terminations in compliance with applicable state laws and provide cross‑coverage for HR team members.
• Identify training needs, coordinate professional development, and facilitate training sessions.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience managing HR functions across multiple locations or states.
• Strong knowledge of US employment law, benefits administration, and compliance reporting.
• Excellent interpersonal and conflict‑resolution skills.
• Ability to work independently while partnering closely with operations and leadership.

Required skills

• Knowledge of ACA, EEOC, and state‑specific filing requirements.
• Experience with benefits enrollment platforms and reconciliation processes.
• Familiarity with performance appraisal systems and HRIS reporting.
