Histologist – Tissue Processing and Cytology Specialist

About the role

The Histologist will join Cleveland Clinic Weston Hospital’s Pathology department, processing surgical and cytology specimens to support accurate patient diagnoses. This position works variable shifts and collaborates closely with pathologists, physicians, and nursing staff.

Key responsibilities

• Accession, process, and prepare all tissue, surgical, cytology, biopsy, and aspirate specimens.
• Perform immunocytochemical stains, assist with frozen sections, and arrange submission of specimens to reference laboratories.
• Report instrument issues, reagent shortages, or testing delays to supervisors and maintain a clean, organized work area.
• Operate and troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation, conduct maintenance checks, and ensure reliable results.
• Provide technical support to pathologists, physicians, and nursing staff, including answering calls and answering consult questions.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Current Florida license as a Histology or Cytology Technologist.
• Associate’s degree from a NACCLS‑approved histotechnology program or a bachelor’s degree in a chemical/biological science.
• HT/L (ASCP) certification preferred.
• Minimum two years of hospital laboratory experience.
