Health Unit Coordinator - Med/Surg & Telemetry

About the role

The Health Unit Coordinator supports the 2 East/2 South Medical‑Surgical Unit at Marymount Hospital, providing essential administrative and clerical assistance during night shifts. This role ensures smooth patient flow, excellent customer service, and accurate documentation for pre‑ and post‑operative patients.

Key responsibilities

• Greet, welcome and orient newly admitted or transferred patients.
• Respond to patient call lights and make regular rounds.
• Assist with admissions, transfers, and discharges processing.
• Guide patients and families with wayfinding and resource direction.
• Assemble and maintain patient medical records and related documents.
• Perform computer tasks such as updating schedules and managing patient information.
• Troubleshoot equipment failures, including call systems, portable phones, WOWs, and other unit devices.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED.
• At least one year of experience in a customer‑service related role.
• Experience with typing and basic computer training.
• Preferred: College degree.
• Preferred: Experience with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
