Health Unit Coordinator

About the role

Join Lehigh Valley Health Network as a Health Unit Coordinator, supporting daily administrative and operational needs to ensure high‑quality patient care. This onsite position works within a nationally recognized health system.

Key responsibilities

• Manage charting functions and patient medical records, including copying and distributing discharge charts.
• Coordinate bed assignments, update the bed board, and facilitate patient flow.
• Answer phones, direct calls, and handle messages promptly.
• Communicate admissions and transfers to nursing staff and refer issues beyond scope.
• Order supplies, perform data entry of billable charges, and transcribe physician orders.
• File test results and ensure documentation is available for provider review.
• Troubleshoot and maintain clerical equipment.

Required profile

• High School Diploma/GED with at least 2 years of clerical or bed‑board management experience in a healthcare setting.
• Ability to work amid interruptions and adapt to changing priorities.
• Strong communication skills with patients, families, and staff.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and problem‑solving processes.

Required skills

• Proficiency with healthcare information systems.
• Microsoft Office applications.
• Basic Life Support certification (American Heart Association).
