Head of Research & Development (R&D)

About the role

The Head of Research & Development leads long‑horizon capability development for Rwazi, shaping the next generation of decision intelligence. Reporting to the CEO, this remote position focuses on exploring, prototyping, and formalising advanced reasoning systems that will power future platform versions.

Key responsibilities

• Identify unsolved reasoning challenges and explore advanced decision frameworks beyond current product constraints.
• Build experimental prototypes, formalise reasoning patterns into structured logic frameworks, and create reusable system primitives for product and engineering teams.
• Advance future decision system architectures, formalise higher‑order reasoning capabilities, and investigate new signal environments and evaluation logic.
• Advise the CEO on long‑term technical differentiation, translate research insights into strategic investment decisions, and define standards for experimentation rigor.

Required profile

• Deep systems thinking with strong formal reasoning ability and experience designing structured decision frameworks.
• Strong understanding of AI systems, computational modelling, or logical reasoning, and ability to translate abstract research into usable components.
• Proven track record solving complex, ambiguous problems in applied research, AI system design, or advanced analytics environments.
• Comfort operating autonomously at a strategic altitude and influencing executive leadership.
