Head of Business Development

About the role

Lead business development across pharma, diagnostics, and synthetic biology, turning scientific interest into strategic partnerships. You will own the commercial process from qualification to deal closure, working closely with product leads.

Key responsibilities

• Originate and close partnerships across pharma, diagnostics, and synthetic biology.
• Map decision‑making processes, qualify opportunities, and ensure budget and stakeholder alignment.
• Structure research collaborations, platform‑access agreements, licenses, and co‑development deals.
• Negotiate economics, IP, data rights, field restrictions, and downstream rights.
• Establish qualification, account‑planning, and deal‑review practices as partnership volume grows.

Required profile

• Proven track record leading and closing complex life‑sciences partnerships.
• Established relationships with decision‑makers in pharma, diagnostics, or synthetic biology.
• Deep understanding of funding and approval processes in large life‑sciences companies.
• Technical fluency to assess model capabilities and represent the company credibly.
• Ability to distinguish serious commercial opportunities from exploratory research.

Required skills

• Experience structuring and negotiating platform, discovery, licensing, or co‑development agreements.
• Knowledge of intellectual‑property, data‑rights, exclusivity, and milestone structures.
• Strong stakeholder strategy and deal‑structuring abilities.
