Group Exercise Instructor – Yoga

About the role

The YMCA of Greater Boston is seeking a Part‑Time Group Exercise Instructor to lead yoga classes at the Oak Square YMCA. You will create a safe, enjoyable environment for participants of all skill levels and help build a supportive community.

Key responsibilities

• Lead energizing, fun, and safe group yoga classes, adapting movements to meet participants' health, ability, and cultural needs.
• Maintain accurate class attendance records using MotionVibe software.
• Answer member questions, celebrate achievements, and foster connections among participants.
• Follow YMCA policies, respond to emergencies, and resolve member issues in line with YMCA values.

Required profile

• At least one year of experience leading group exercise classes.
• Current certification in Group Exercise from a nationally recognized, NCCA‑accredited organization (e.g., ACE, NASM, ISSA).
• CPR/AED and First Aid certifications.
• Ability to communicate effectively with diverse age groups and special populations.

Required skills

• Group Exercise certification (Yoga specific if applicable).
• Knowledge of wellness trends and ability to incorporate them into classes.
• Understanding of inclusive instruction for participants of all backgrounds and abilities.
