Group Exercise Instructor – Core Strength

About the role

The Group Exercise Instructor leads core‑strength classes at Oak Square YMCA, creating a safe, enjoyable environment for participants of all fitness levels. Reporting to the Health and Wellness Director, you will help members develop healthy habits through engaging group sessions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead energizing, fun, and safe group exercise classes while adapting movements to meet diverse health, ability, and cultural needs.
• Maintain accurate class attendance using MotionVibe software and follow YMCA policies, including emergency response.
• Build authentic relationships with members, celebrate their achievements, and support them in reaching health goals.
• Answer participant questions, provide wellness information, and stay current on wellness trends through YUSA courses and external training.

Required profile

• At least one year of experience leading group exercise classes.
• Current certification in Group Exercise from a nationally recognized body (ACE, AFFA, NASM, NSCA, ISSA, etc.).
• CPR/AED and First Aid certifications.
• Ability to work with diverse populations, including youth, seniors, and special needs groups.

Required skills

• Group Exercise certification (e.g., ACE, AFFA, NASM, NSCA, ISSA).
• CPR/AED certification.
• First Aid certification.
• Familiarity with MotionVibe class management software.
