Group Exercise Instructor – Strength Classes

About the role

The Group Exercise Instructor leads strength‑focused classes at Oak Square YMCA, creating a safe, enjoyable environment for participants of all fitness levels. Reporting to the Health and Wellness Director, you will help members develop healthy habits through engaging, inclusive instruction.

Key responsibilities

• Lead energizing, safe, and educational group strength classes.
• Answer participant questions and support members in achieving health goals.
• Maintain attendance records using MotionVibe software.
• Adjust class content to accommodate diverse abilities, health conditions, and cultural needs.
• Follow YMCA policies, respond to emergencies, and resolve member issues professionally.

Required profile

• At least one year of experience leading group exercise classes.
• Current Group Exercise certification from a nationally recognized, NCCA‑accredited organization (e.g., ACE, AFFA, NASM, NSCA, ISSA).
• CPR/AED and First Aid certifications.
• Ability to communicate effectively with adults, youth, seniors, and special populations.
