Group Exercise Instructor – Pilates

About the role

The YMCA of Greater Boston is seeking a Part‑Time Group Exercise Instructor to lead Pilates classes in a safe, enjoyable environment for members of all skill levels. You will report to the Health and Wellness Director and collaborate with other wellness staff.

Key responsibilities

• Lead energizing, fun, and safe group Pilates classes, adapting movements to meet participants’ health, ability and cultural needs.
• Maintain accurate class attendance records using MotionVibe software and follow YMCA policies, including emergency response.
• Answer member questions, celebrate achievements, and foster community connections among participants.

Required profile

• At least one year of experience leading group exercise classes.
• Current NCCA‑accredited Group Exercise certification (e.g., ACE, AFFA, NASM, NSCA, ISSA).
• CPR/AED and First Aid certifications.

Required skills

• Certification in specific group‑exercise formats such as Pilates, Yoga, Spin, Les Mills Body Pump or Body Combat.
• Understanding of wellness trends and ability to convey health information to diverse members.
