Group Exercise Instructor – Les Mills BodyPump

About the role

The YMCA is seeking a Group Exercise Instructor to lead Les Mills BodyPump classes in a safe, enjoyable environment for members of all fitness levels. You will report to the Health and Wellness Director and collaborate with other wellness staff.

Key responsibilities

• Lead energizing, fun, and safe group exercise classes, adapting movements to meet participants' abilities and cultural needs.
• Maintain accurate class attendance records using MotionVibe software and follow YMCA policies, including emergency response.
• Build community by fostering authentic relationships among members and encouraging participation.

Required profile

• At least one year of experience leading group exercise classes.
• Current certification in Group Exercise from a nationally recognized body (NCCA‑accredited preferred).
• CPR/AED and First Aid certifications.

Required skills

• Les Mills BodyPump certification (or equivalent group‑exercise format certification such as ACE, AFFA, NASM, NSCA, ISSA).
• Ability to modify classes for diverse health, ability, and cultural needs.
• Effective communication with adults, youth, seniors, and special populations.
