Grants Specialist 1

About the role

The Georgia Emergency Management and Homeland Security agency is seeking a Grants Specialist 1 to manage and administer Hazard Mitigation Assistance grant funds, support disaster response and recovery, and ensure compliance with federal and state regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and administer Hazard Mitigation Assistance grant funds on behalf of the state.
• Monitor compliance, progress of sub‑recipient projects, and review quarterly reports and reimbursements.
• Prepare or consult on grant proposals and provide technical assistance to partners and sub‑applicants.
• Ensure grant applications are complete, eligible, cost‑effective, and submitted to FEMA on time.
• Research funding needs, compile information for reports, and analyze problems to develop recommendations.
• Participate in disaster response, be on call 24/7, and fulfill State Operations Center duties as needed.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in business, public administration, finance, or related field.
• At least one year of experience in grants management or related area (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
• Knowledge of federal and state hazard mitigation grant requirements and regulations.

Required skills

• Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and Adobe applications.
• Experience using FEMA Grants Outcome (FEMAGo) and EMGrants systems.
• Excellent writing and communication abilities.
