About the role

The State Accounting Office (SAO) seeks a Financial Reporting Analyst 1 to support statewide financial reporting, including the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report and Budgetary Compliance Report. This entry‑level position works under supervision to compile, analyze, and document agency financial data.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare financial statements and footnotes for the ACFR, BCR, and other statewide reports.
• Assist senior managers in developing accounting procedures that align with GAAP, governmental standards, and statutory requirements.
• Support implementation of financial reporting process improvements.
• Provide analytical support and insight for key reporting decisions.
• Lead ad‑hoc projects and collaborate with reporting organizations.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in accounting.
• At least one year of professional‑level accounting experience.
• Ability to prepare accurate accounting entries and perform mathematical computations.
• Strong technical judgment to assess accuracy and completeness of financial information.

Required skills

• Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and governmental accounting.
• Ability to organize and translate large data sets into financial reports.
• Proficiency in using computerized accounting applications and database principles.
