Grants Accountant

About the role

The Grants Accountant reports to the Director of Accounting and is responsible for managing the budgets of all externally funded projects and activities at the college. This role ensures compliance with sponsor agreements, accurate financial reporting, and proper closure of grant accounts.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare grant billing invoices, reconcile invoices and payments, and maintain supporting documentation.
• Record financial transactions, including revenue receipts, in the Banner Financial module and assign appropriate accounting codes.
• Coordinate procurement, accounts receivable, and accounts payable activities for externally funded projects.
• Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and internal policies for grant and contract accounting.
• Assist auditors by explaining accounting practices, preparing materials, and providing necessary documentation.
• Maintain data integrity of all grant/contract account and billing information.
• Research and resolve account discrepancies, providing analysis reports as needed.
• Participate in strategic planning and initiatives within the Finance and Administration Division.
