General Inpatient Hospice RN

About the role

James River Hospice is seeking a compassionate General Inpatient Hospice RN to provide comprehensive inpatient care for hospice patients requiring hospitalization at Chippenham Hospital. The role involves coordinating with an interdisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient experiences.

Key responsibilities

• Assess patients and develop individualized care plans with a focus on pain and symptom management.
• Provide emotional support to patients and families, maintaining dignity and comfort at end‑of‑life.
• Educate patients and families on hospice philosophy and care options.
• Maintain accurate documentation of care provided and patient responses.
• Manage medications and act as a patient advocate to meet their needs.

Required profile

• Current Registered Nurse license in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
• At least one year of hospice experience.
• Graduate of an accredited nursing school.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle for work use.
