Full-Time Temporary Science Teacher (Biology & Environmental Science)

About the role

Punahou School is seeking a full‑time temporary faculty member to teach high‑school biology and environmental science for the 2026‑2027 academic year. The position emphasizes rigorous classroom instruction, hands‑on laboratory experiences, and active participation in departmental curriculum development.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver engaging lessons in biology and/or environmental science to grades 9‑12.
• Design, set up, and supervise laboratory investigations that align with curriculum goals.
• Confer regularly with students to support academic progress and social‑emotional learning.
• Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum planning, assessment design, and departmental initiatives.
• Participate in school‑wide professional development and innovation activities.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
• Minimum three years of high‑school teaching experience in the relevant subject area.
• Experience with scientific work in a laboratory or field setting.
• Demonstrated ability to work with diverse student abilities and learning styles.
• Commitment to fostering empathy, resilience, and social responsibility.

Required skills
