Intervention Specialist – Elementary

About the role

The Intervention Specialist will support the educational and behavioral goals of all students, focusing on those with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) at Cornerstone Academy – Elementary. Working closely with classroom teachers, the specialist will help design and implement interventions that promote academic success and social‑emotional growth.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with teachers to interpret student abilities and disabilities, adapt curriculum, and assist with classroom interventions.
• Conduct diagnostic and functional behavior assessments and develop behavior improvement plans.
• Facilitate IEP meetings, write IEP goals and objectives, and monitor progress.
• Integrate culturally responsive teaching practices and research‑based strategies into daily instruction.
• Serve as advisor for a designated group of students and communicate regularly with families.
• Participate in non‑instructional activities such as social events and field trips.

Required profile

• Current state license and knowledge of State and Common Core standards.
• Experience in full‑room inclusion or co‑teaching/resource‑room models.
• Comfort working in a growth‑focused coaching environment with frequent observations and progress monitoring.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, excellent organization, and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to pass federal and state criminal background checks.
