Full-time Physician Assistant – Urgent Care (Tyler, TX)

About the role

UT Health East Texas is hiring a full‑time Physician Assistant (or BE/BC Nurse Practitioner) to staff its growing Urgent Care clinic in Tyler, Texas. The position offers a flexible, shift‑based schedule with a mix of 12‑hour days and weekend coverage, and provides direct patient care in a high‑volume, multidisciplinary environment.

Key responsibilities

• Evaluate, diagnose, and treat urgent and emergent medical conditions in accordance with clinic protocols.
• Order and interpret laboratory, radiology, and point‑of‑care tests using on‑site resources.
• Document patient encounters in the Epic electronic medical record system.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and support staff to ensure seamless patient flow.
• Participate in quality‑improvement initiatives and continuing education activities.

Required profile

• Current BE/BC certification as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.
• 1–3 years of experience in an Emergency Department or Urgent Care setting.
• Ability to work a rotating schedule that includes evenings and weekends.
• Commitment to delivering compassionate, high‑quality care.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Epic EMR.
