Full-Time Lecturer – Communication Studies (Academic Year 2026‑27)

About the role

The College of Liberal Arts at California Polytechnic State University seeks a full‑time Lecturer in the Communication Studies Department. The appointment begins on August 17, 2026 for the 2026‑27 academic year, with a two‑year term and possible extension to 2028‑29 based on budget, departmental need, and performance.

Key responsibilities

• Teach foundational lower‑division oral communication courses such as public speaking and argumentation.
• Potentially teach 200‑level courses (e.g., communication theory, interpersonal, organizational, small‑group, media studies) depending on departmental needs.
• Contribute to upper‑division undergraduate teaching in areas such as intercultural communication, nonverbal communication, media effects, or environmental communication.
• Maintain a teaching load of five three‑unit courses per semester (30 units per academic year).
• Participate in departmental service and uphold an inclusive learning environment.

Required profile

• A.B.D. or Ph.D. in Communication or a closely related field.
• Demonstrated successful teaching record in oral communication courses.
• Evidence of commitment to undergraduate teaching excellence.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
