Fulfillment Specialist

About the role

ABB is hiring a Fulfillment Specialist in Richmond, Virginia, reporting to the IPU Manager. The role covers purchasing goods from internal feeder factories and external suppliers according to delivery schedules, transport modes, prices and terms, keeping activities aligned with company purchasing policies and handling urgent situations to ensure timely deliveries. The work is onsite.

Key responsibilities

• Release purchase requisitions and initiate purchase orders in the system, aligned with customer requirements, ERP and standard operating procedures, and the release strategy and table of authorities.
• Monitor supplier order acknowledgments and dispatch advice, inbound freight, customs clearance and local transportation.
• Track purchase order backlogs and regularly follow up with internal and external suppliers to ensure on-time delivery.
• Proactively identify root causes of late deliveries, implement recovery plans and track goods received at the warehouse to verify delivery and support invoice processing.
• Perform subcontracting tasks with third-party suppliers, resolve non-conforming materials, monitor exception messages, manage inventory, fix goods receipt errors and settle pending supplier payments.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in business administration, engineering or a related technical/STEM field plus at least 1 year of experience in material planning or purchasing/supply chain, or an associate degree plus 3 years of related experience.
• Demonstrated use of SAP in previous roles.
• Work authorization to work for ABB in the United States.
