Financial Controller

About the role

We are seeking an experienced, hands‑on Financial Controller to lead our finance function as we scale our next‑generation nuclear technology startup. Based in Houston, TX, you will own the end‑to‑end accounting process, ensure the integrity of financial statements, and build a robust internal‑control environment.

Key responsibilities

• Direct monthly, quarterly and annual close and consolidation processes for both standalone entities and the corporate group.
• Serve as the technical accounting authority, researching and documenting complex transactions in accordance with US GAAP.
• Manage all tax filings and compliance, coordinating with external advisors.
• Prepare and present high‑quality reporting packages for senior management, the board and audit committees.
• Build, mentor and oversee the accounting team, reviewing bookkeeping and reconciliations.
• Lead external audit engagements, including SOX documentation and readiness for listed‑company requirements.
• Design, implement and maintain internal controls across the organization.
• Oversee treasury activities such as cash‑flow forecasting, banking relationships and liquidity management.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including people management.
• Experience in a publicly listed company or a PCAOB‑audited environment.
