Hospital Controller – Finance Leadership Role

About the role

Our client, a growing hospital network in Houston, is seeking an experienced Controller to lead accounting operations across multiple facilities. This senior finance professional will partner with executive leadership to strengthen reporting, improve processes, and support rapid expansion.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee month‑end close, general ledger, and financial reporting for hospitals and related entities.
• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
• Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and reporting requirements.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis in partnership with leadership.
• Build and improve accounting processes, internal controls, and SOPs.
• Provide financial insight and performance analysis to operations teams.
• Manage audit readiness for external and regulatory reviews.
• Handle multi‑entity accounting for hospitals, surgical centers, and imaging facilities.
• Scale the accounting function to support rapid growth and expansion initiatives.
• Mentor and develop accounting staff as the team expands.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (CPA candidate preferred).
• Minimum 10 years of accounting experience, with at least 5 years in hospital or healthcare settings.
• Strong understanding of GAAP and healthcare financial operations.
• Experience in multi‑entity or complex healthcare environments.
• Proven ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, growth‑focused environment.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel proficiency.
• Experience with ERP systems (Meditech or similar).
