Financial Audit Intern – Summer 2025

About the role

The Comptroller of the Treasury's Audit Internship Program offers a 10‑week paid experience for undergraduate students to participate in state and local government audits. Interns will work on active audit assignments, receive audit‑specific training, and engage in professional development activities.

Key responsibilities

• Examine and review records, reports, financial statements, and management practices for entities receiving public funds.
• Evaluate fairness of financial statement presentation, adequacy of internal controls, and compliance with laws, regulations, contracts, and grant agreements.
• Participate in on‑site audit visits in Nashville and potentially other parts of Tennessee, with travel reimbursed.

Required profile

• Rising junior, senior, or graduate accounting student with at least 6 hours of accounting coursework completed.
• Adaptable, critical thinker, able to work independently and in a team.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills for tactful interaction with auditees and coworkers.

What we offer

• Compensation of $24 per hour paid via a third‑party company.
• Reimbursement for audit‑related travel expenses.
