Field Engineer 3 - FAA Radar Surveillance Replacement

About the role

Leidos' NAS Integration Support Contract (NISC) program, one of its oldest and largest FAA programs, is seeking a Field Engineer 3 to support the Brand-New Air Traffic Control System (BNATCS) initiative, specifically the Radar Surveillance Replacement (RSR) Program Office (AJM-41). The engineer serves on the RSR implementation and disposition teams, supporting installation and disposition at some of the nation's busiest and most critical airports.

Key responsibilities

• Represent the program office at RSR sites and execute to an aggressive multi-site schedule.
• Serve as an RSR subject matter expert to the program office's project, implementation and engineering leads.
• Take part in final planning and site preparation, including site implementation plans and site visits.
• Provide onsite installation and construction consultation, advising contractors on requirements based on design drawings and the statement of work.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree with 4-8 years of relevant experience, or Master's degree with 2-6 years; additional years of experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree.
• Experience researching, designing and developing electrical equipment and systems.
• Formal radar training at the FAA Academy and prior radar certification authority at one or more airports.
• Several years of hands-on field experience on radar systems in the active National Airspace System.
• Ability to work independently and within a small team to meet an aggressive installation schedule, and to lift 75 lbs.
• High travel expected, about 75% of the time.

Required skills

• Knowledge of FAA construction and installation requirements at RSR sites.
• Understanding of FAA operational risk management practices.
• Preferred: prior FAA radar specialist (engineer or technician) with multi-year responsibility for radar systems in the operational NAS.

The pay range is $87,100 to $157,450, which is a general guideline only. The position is posted for U.S. candidates and is expected to stay open for at least 3 days.
