Facilities Technician

About the role

The Facilities Technician reports to the Regional Facilities Director and ensures the YMCA branch is clean, safe, and well‑maintained. The role involves hands‑on maintenance of building systems, grounds, and equipment, with on‑call availability for emergencies.

Key responsibilities

• Perform general building and grounds maintenance including carpentry, cleaning, electrical work, furniture assembly, landscaping, masonry, painting, plumbing, snow removal, and event setup.
• Operate, document, and oversee building systems such as fire alarms, sprinklers, security, emergency lighting, elevators, generators, HVAC, plumbing, and water systems.
• Manage contracts for system maintenance, from scope development and bidding to scheduling and record‑keeping.
• Coordinate with program directors for compliance, permitting, and inspections, and work with the Aquatics Director on pool, steam, and sauna systems.
• Inspect building envelope components for structural integrity and support capital improvement planning.

Required profile

• High school diploma required; advanced degree preferred.
• Valid driver’s license and personal vehicle.
• Experience in facilities management with hands‑on repair skills in basic electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems.
• Facility certification in at least one major discipline (electric, HVAC, plumbing, or building design) preferred.
